Hi there,
I'm writing this only because the pencil made me do it.
Because I am happy about this geeky drawing tool.
it is actually a nice surprise.
I've previously used the 300 version, but the 500 doesn't feel like a toy.

weight : fairly balanced for my hand and it weighs just enough to feel it as a serious tool.
I can only imagine how the metal more expensive ones feel like. Good, I guess.

color/texture : even though it is made out of abs plastic, it feels like metal, especially around the "serrated", rough grip area. This however catches all the bigger pieces of dust. But this will only bother you if you're a detail oriented person.
The black is matte and the paint is very carefully applied. I can only hope I don't scratch it too much. Maybe it won't scratch easily.

the tip : this area feels like it was cast with even more attention to detail. It seems quite sturdy and I'm happy I chose the 0.7 size pencil because I always bent the tips somehow.

the cap : comes off quite easily but the overall sturdy construction does not let it fly off.

the eraser : pretty nice, and should provide enough "service" due to its generous lenght. I never use it. If however you choose to use it, remember that once its gone, your pencil leads will fall through the cap, as it has this hole in it / probably the most uninspired detail about these high-end rotring pencils. (300+500, not sure about the other ones)

price : fair.
context : remember that in different global circumstances, these purchases would be such a trifle, and afterall one can design and draw with a piece of burnt wood. Think eco, think sustainable.

Design for good and long use.

Overall, 4 out of 5 stars.

sincerely,
Traian
